1. The Free Agent
Beth Kanter and Allison Fine defined the concept of the “free agent” this year in their book, The Networked Nonprofit. A “free agent,” as they defined it, is a “person who is passionate about a social cause, but is working outside of a nonprofit organization to organize, mobilize, raise money, and engage with others.” Using social media tools, free agents are able to make an impact that was once only capable within the infrastructure of an organization.
2. Ben Rattray, Founder and CEO of Change.org
There are two hurdles that almost every cause campaign struggles with. The first is making the complexities and realities of its cause understood. The second is mobilizing people effectively. Change.org, which was founded by Ben Rattray in 2006, helps solve both.
The site has more than 100 writers who contribute in-depth reporting on 15 different causes. When people come to the site to read about a cause they’re passionate about, they also have the opportunity to take action toward that cause by signing petitions. While these cumulative actions lack the drama of a protest, mobilizing a large network toward one specific action has proved a lot more effective than a hodgepodge of independent actions.
Change.org has partnered with thousands of non-profits, and together the community has accomplished more than 100 “victories,” in which they’ve changed an unjust practice, law or policy. The organization connects activists with similar passions, and by doing so it gives them power as a cohort that they would never have as individuals. Lest We Forget http://t.co/vVxxmgL via @youtube
3. Scott Harrison, Founder of Charity: Water
Charity: water uses 100% of public donations to fund water projects and is transparent about how donations are used. Both of these qualities make it somewhat of an oddball in the non-profit world — which might be exactly what the non-profit world needs.
When people donate money to most organizations, they’re not sure what happens to their donation or how efficiently it was used. When they give to charity: water, they can look up a picture and GPS coordinates of the project they contributed to. Since the organization relies on private donors for the money that makes it run, there’s no doubt about whether your donation ended up paying for somebody’s flight instead of funding a water project. The organization even covers its PayPal fees on donations.
This model of transparency and accountability has created trust and helped raise more than $20 million for 3,196 projects in the past four years. We hope that its success will influence other non-profits to do the same.

Lawsuit Loan Sharking on Rise | Share on Facebook | Share on Twitter
| The more we uncover, the worse it looks. Unrestrained by laws that cap interest rates, the fees charged by lawsuit lenders often exceed 100 percent a year, according to a review by The New York Times and the Center for Public Integrity. Furthermore, companies are not required to provide clear and complete pricing information — and the details they do give are often misleading. A growing number of lawyers, judges and regulators say that the regulatory vacuum is allowing lawsuit lenders to siphon away too much of the money won by plaintiffs. You can read our original lawsuit-lending story here. |

Some times people reach out ,for help and unknowing hurt the hand that is reaching in to help,....................Our homeless youth is in trouble as much as the economy is in.Just my perspective ! When the center was setup to deal w/the homeless situation the numbers of youth were nowhere near the numbers they are today and the issues of youth were nowhere what they are today Dealing w/the today`s youth gets no where from a black and white conservative way of dealing w/them its gonna take creativity,(a liberal thing )its gonna take looking at policies and procedures that were set in place to deal issue of yesterday and tweaking and sometimes getting rid of archaic rule. , This is the 21st century an i am not doubting your education and or schooling of how to deal w/people,,but i truly think your schooling and education was not focused on dealing and making rules and regulation to deal w/the troubled youth and itroubling issues of commoners and societal issues as they are in this time frame. To keep racial issues from coming into play, and they are gonna show up in dealing w/young black and white youth, you are gonna need a strong, street smart african american male w/some social work,hx and openmindedness about sexual orientaion included (today it means alot) as a front desk worker, and at least 1 as a coach,. I would love to see your administration be proactive in fixing this lack of diversity, when it comes to african american men as frontline workers in this institution, and the importance of it when it comes to helping the youth ,the future of america tomorow ,its greatly needed, and w/all my issues if you wanna call them that ,i am availible for front desk monday, wednesday and friday,10 pm to 10 am front desk work, and have enough knowledge of who doing what, when youthful thinking is the issue ,when thuggishness needs to be addressed from a racial view,I have no college education ,but i do have some people skills as a former drug and alcohol counselor, former hiv.aids educator,at present homeless person who observes ,records analyzes, and responds to homeless issues around me , ,

Woodrow Wilson signed the 1913 Federal Reserve Act. A few years later he wrote: I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant Woodrow Wilson

REMEMBER GOD Is watching
WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR COMMITTING SUICIDE? Around the world there are cultural issues that influence the decision to end a persons life. While the actual reasons are both complicated and simple. 1. Does religion influence a persons willingness to give up on life? 2. Do young people go through times of weakness? Perhaps Puppy Love? 3. What are the reasons that diminish a persons desire to live their lives?
What Is Friendship ??? Solution:- "Friendship Is An Interpersonal & Immediate Understanding Of Interactional Ways Of Peculiaristic & Democratically Undefined Methods Of Controlling Emotional Hyperbolic Reactions...!!
The Lord Jesus Christ gave us the
definition of a true friend: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay
down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no
longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business.
Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father
I have made known to you" (John 15:13-15).

Mari Nosal • For young people - part of the issue is that they live emotionally in the present. Youth are not generally emotionally equipped nor developed maturity wise to peer into the future and realize "this will pass". I believe their are as many reasons as there are people in the world for taking ones life. Every individual deals with different stressors and handles them differently due to personality differences as well. Taking the above into account - I notice that many individuals attempt to identify the motivator for suicidal ideation. No one is mentioning a possible lack of support for individuals under duress. Some ideas would be increased funding for trained teams to go into low income developments, schools, military centers, etc. to conduct workshops, assess, research, crete prevention programs, groups, and counsel individuals at risk. Public service announcements should be increased to reach multiple populations. Prevention is the key although not the only component. We need to make assistance available to all. For many, the difference between suicide and life is cost effective or free support. Also, some individuals avoid seeking help due to stigma attatched to suicidal ideation. The elderly are a forgotten population that are high risk for suicide and depression as well. Anyone who commits suicide is oviously lacking coping strategies. In ending, their are so many individual reasons for taking ones life that one needs to deal with this on a case to case basis. Educate the public on the signs of depression and suicidal ideation and encourage them to get involved.
